The
raging flood that has ravaged most of the country and nearly the whole Bayelsa
State has taken over former President Goodluck Jonathan's Otuoke house in the
state's Ogbia Local Government Area.
During
a visit to the former President's hometown to inspect the situation on Friday,
Bayelsa State Governor Duoye Diri decried the extent of destruction inflicted
by what he termed as a "natural disaster attack" on Bayelsans' livelihood.
The
Governor, who revealed that Otuoke, the home of a Federal University, had been
inundated and most inhabitants, including Jonathan, had been relocated, assured
the people of the State government's determination to put in place equipment to
give relief items and medical assistance to victims of the flood.
While
empathizing with Jonathan who he said is now also internally displaced as a
result of the flood, the governor also visited the former president’s mother,
Eunice Jonathan.
Diri, however, solicited the help of well-meaning Bayelsans, corporate organizations, and the federal government to enable the State to overcome the present unfortunate situation.
